Blue Bay, Ngaramaiberel, and Surangels donate to the PICRC Arts and Tides Calendar

Blue Bay Palau, Ngaramaiberel Women’s Group, and Surangel and Sons Company are all longtime donors who have again extended their support to Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) in the production of the 2021 “Saving Our Oceans from Plastic Pollution” Arts and Tides Calendar. Blue Bay donated $1000, Ngaramaiberel donated $350, and Surangel and Sons donated $2500. Since the last Arts and Tides Calendar Contest in 2020, Surangel and Sons Company has increased their donation by $500, from $2000 to $2500.

The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) has been hosting its educational program, the Arts and Tides Calendar Contest, for 20 years, beginning with its first calendar in 2001. Over the years, the support of private donors and community members has been essential to the success and sustainability of this program. In spite of extraordinary circumstances this year, which understandably affected many companies, these long time donors were still able to contribute.

These donors have an established history of supporting PICRC. Surangel and Sons has been donating to the Arts and Tides Calendar since 2002, and they also sponsor the largest tank at Palau Aquarium. Blue Bay has been donating to the program since 2011, and they also sponsor the PICRC annual summer internship for college students. Ngaramaiberel has been donating since 2017, and they are usually the first group to contribute each year.

PICRC would like to express sincere gratitude for the support that these organizations continue to provide for environmental education. As a direct result of their contributions, children in Palau had the opportunity to use art and creativity to learn about the issue of plastic pollution and how they can take action to solve it.
