Elsei Tellei joins PICRC’s research team

Ms. Elsei Tellei recently joined the Palau International Coral Reef Center’s (PICRC) Research Department as its newest researcher. Elsei was selected to join the research team after going through a competitive application and selection process with other applicants.

Elsei first joined PICRC on August 2019, as a Communications and Outreach Officer, where she worked with the Outreach team to help improve awareness and education on the Palau National Marine Sanctuary (PNMS). She also took part in many education, community, and outreach programs imparted by the Center. Likewise, Ms. Tellei had the opportunity to assist the Research Department with field research involving the PNMS and Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).  Her experience with outreach and research work, vast understanding on the PNMS, and extensive background as one of Palau’s Conservation Youth Leaders, made her the ideal candidate to fulfill the Center’s new research position.

“We are excited to be able to support and provide opportunities to our local youth. Elsei is a passionate, driven, and proactive candidate whom I have no doubt, will contribute a great deal to the Center’s research,” stated Director of Research Department, Ms. Geraldine Rengiil.
