PCC student Rubie Gabriel interns at PICRC

Ms. Rubie Gabriel, a student from Palau Community College (PCC) is currently interning at the Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC). Rubie began her Internship on January 24th and will finish by May 5th of this year.

Rubie graduated from Palau High School in May 2014 and is now enrolled at PCC majoring in Environmental/Marine Science. While she is fulfilling her PCC courses with PICRC she works part time as a Dolphins trainer’s assistant at Dolphins Pacific. Upon completing her education, she is interested in becoming a researcher in the future. read more

Ecological monitoring training course held

On February 7, 2017 the opening ceremony of the Ecological Monitoring Training Course for Koror State conservation officers and rangers was held at Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC). The training is conducted by PICRC in collaboration with Palau Community College (PCC) and Protected Areas Network Office (PAN O) with the assistance of Palau Coral Reef and Island Ecosystem (P-CoRIE) project. This course will cover techniques on surveying methods and specific needs for the conservation officers and rangers to apply when monitoring Koror State PAN Sites. read more

Guests from the National Science Foundation, US Embassy in Palau and US Department of State visited PICRC

Special guests from the National Science Foundation, US Embassy in Palau and US Department of State visited Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) on February 07, 2017.  During their visit, they were given brief overview of PICRC’s projects and activities by PICRC’s CEO, Dr. Yimnang Golbuu. After the brief presentation, they were given a special guided tour around Palau Aquarium by Chief Aquarist, Asap Bukurrou. The special guests posed for a picture with PICRC staff during their visit to PICRC. Throughout the year, PICRC conducts special presentations and tours to Palau’s special guests.
