At PICRC, we are committed to fulfilling our mission: to guide efforts supporting coral reef stewardship through research and its applications for the people of Palau, Micronesia, and the world. With this mission in mind, the Center provides opportunities for researchers to conduct research that will go on to influence decisions regarding conservation and management of coral reefs in Palau and in the region. Currently, the Center has eight ongoing research projects:
- Long-Term Monitoring Project
- Fisheries Research
- Watershed Research Project
- Marine Protected Area (MPA) Research
- Conservation Officer Training
- Research to Support Palau State and National Government Conservation Management
- SATREPS Project: Project for the sustainable management of coral reef and island ecosystems: responding to the threat of climate change
- Micronesia Challenge
All of our projects encompass PICRC’s mission. The results from our projects contribute significantly to marine conservation efforts, not just in Palau, but in Micronesia and the world.
