On April 20, 2021, Palau High School (PHS) students Caley Sumios Adolf, Dillungil Alex Suzuki and Jamie T. Ngirdimau started their Career Mentoring Program at the Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC). The three students will be working at PICRC for one week.
The Career Mentoring is a Work-Based Activity program offered at PHS for juniors to gain on-job-experience in their career interest. This program provides the opportunity for juniors to observe and understand the connection between school and careers, as well as to practice the skills that they have learned in their career academy classes.
The three students were welcomed and went through an orientation program with the goal of exposing them to the work environment in the career of their choice. Caley is mentored at the Administration office/Gift Shop, where he will learn more about customer services and hospitality. Dillungil and Jamie are mentored at the Research department, where they will get exposed to the daily work that the researchers do.
All the students will be working hand-in-hand with an assigned mentor from Administration/Gift Shop and Research until the end of the program on April 26, 2021.
