Vacancy – Communications & Outreach Officer
Position: Communication and Outreach Officer
Salary Range: $17,411 to $44,022
Closing Date: August 18, 2026
Term: Limited Term employment base on Grant Funding Location: PICRC Office, Palau
The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) is seeking a qualified candidates to fill the role of Communication and Outreach Officer, responsible for public awareness campaigns that foster local participation and marine stewardship. Key responsibilities include creating engaging print and digital educational materials, organizing community consultation workshops, and executing broad communication strategies, including newsletters, press releases, radio broadcasts, social media management, and website dashboards. Additionally, the officer will assist in planning and delivering the Center’s educational programs to advance PICRC’s mission across local schools and communities.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute school support and community outreach programs through various presentation
• Leading community consultations
• Develop and producing high-impact outreach and media products
• Translating technical marine research and coral ecosystem monitoring findings into clear and culturally appropriate formats for stakeholders
• Assessing group-specific awareness needs and adapting materials to promote inclusive public participation
• Supporting community capacity building initatives
Minimum Qualifications
• Associate degree in marine science, ecology, communication, marketing, or related field with demonstrated experience in teaching, community outreach and stakeholder engagement.
• Possess excellent command of spoken and written in English; with proficiency or knowledge of the Palauan language being highly valued.
• Two years of relevant work experience particularly in teaching.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Comfortable working in aquatic environment
• Snorkeling experience or hold a dive certification
