Otis Ferlyn joins PICRC as a Research Assistant

The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) is pleased to welcome Otis Salmasang Ferlyn, a 26-year-old Palauan from Peleliu, as a new Research Assistant.

His interest and passion for the ocean and marine life led him to PICRC after working as a delivery driver for a beverage distribution company in New York and beginning his studies in Marine Biology at Palau Community College. Now a certified diver, Otis is ready to take hands-on work in marine conservation. At PICRC, he is assisting the research team with surveys and monitoring efforts aimed at preserving Palau’s rich marine ecosystems.

“My interest in the ocean’s biodiversity and PICRC’s educational presentations inspired me to join the Center,” Otis shared. “I’m excited to gain knowledge in sustainable resource management and contribute to research that can have a positive impact on our oceans and its ecosystems.”

PICRC is excited to have Otis on board and we look forward to the contributions he will make in protecting Palau’s marine environment.
