PICRC Calls for Nominations for the 2026 Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. Environmental Award

The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) is calling for nominations for the 2026 Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. Environmental Award.

The Environmental Award is presented every other year during PICRC’s largest fundraising event, the Anniversary Gala Dinner, to recognize an individual that has made significant contributions to conservation and management efforts in Palau.

Award Background and Previous Recipients

Launched in 2016, the Environmental Award was named after President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr., who was also the first recipient, recognized for his leadership and vision in advancing conservation efforts in Palau.

Since its inception, the award has honored distinguished individuals whose work exemplifies a deep commitment to environmental stewardship in Palau. Previous recipients include:

• Honorable Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. (2016)
• Dirrengerkiu Carol Emaurois (2018)
• Mrs. Ann K. Singeo (2020)
• Mr. Lazarus Meyar (2022)
• Mr. Yalap Yalap (2024)

Nominate a Conservation Champion

PICRC is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. Environmental Award. The recipient of this prestigious award will be recognized and formally presented at PICRC’s 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner.

Nominations are open to the general public. Proposals can be submitted by following the link to the online Google Form:

Users unable to access online form may also submit their nominations in person at PICRC or by calling PICRC at (680) 488-6950. Any submissions made via telephone should state both the names of the nominator and the nominee, and the reason why the nominee deserves the Award.
