Lyvonsky Tatebe, Former Marine and Dive Guide, Joins PICRC as Boat Operator

Lyvonsky Tatebe, a former marine, dive guide and boat captain has joined the Palau International Coral Reef Center as a new boat operator.

As a boat operator, Lyvonsky will operate the Center’s vessels during research trips, aquarium collections and visits to field sites in the northern and southern reefs. He will work closely with the Center’s staff, guests, and visiting researchers from around the world.

Before joining the Center, Lyvonsky worked as a dive guide and boat operator in the local tourism industry. He also served in the US Marine Corp.

“Since tourism has decreased, this role is a good opportunity to use what I’ve learned as a dive guide and boat operator to support science and research” said Lyvonsky.

The Center’s staff are excited to welcome Lyvonsky and look forward to joining him on trips to the field throughout Palau’s islands.
