PICRC Research Director and PNMS Programs Manager attend Pacific Coral Reef Collective forum in Australia

Two staff members from the Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) joined the Pacific Coral Reef Collective forum in Australia in August—Research Director Geraldine Rengiil and Palau National Marine Sanctuary (PNMS) Programs Manager King Sam.

The Pacific Coral Reef Collective facilitates leadership exchange and capacity building. It is part of the Australian Government’s Reef Protection Package. The forum brought together reef managers and partners from 14 Pacific countries to address the challenges facing coral reefs and explore the solutions being implemented. It highlighted the diverse set of actions that are taking place across the Pacific to strengthen reef resilience and better protect these marine ecosystems.

Alongside Palau, participating countries included Samoa, Papua New Guinea, American Samoa, Fiji, Cook Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, Tonga, Kiribati, Nauru, and Federated States of Micronesia.

Thank you to the Australian Government and Australia Embassy in Palau for organizing this forum and supporting these staff to attend.
