The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) is Palau’s leading marine  research and education institution, with a mission to be a Center of excellence that produces high-quality and impactful research, education, and opportunities to support the stewardship of Palau’s ocean resources. 

PICRC is seeking a Communications & Outreach Officer to help bridge science and community. This  role plays a key part in translating research into meaningful engagement and action. 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Working closely with researchers to translate scientific data and findings into accessible and engaging materials for diverse audiences, including students, educators, policymakers, and local communities 

• Supporting coral reef restoration initiatives by leading outreach, community engagement, and  awareness efforts that promote participation and stewardship 

• Assisting with the development and curation of educational exhibits at the Palau Aquarium for  both local and international visitors 

• Managing internal and external communications, including PICRC’s website, social media platforms, press releases, and resource library 

• Leading public awareness campaigns, outreach events, and education programs

• Coordinating partnerships and collaborative initiatives that advance marine conservation and ocean stewardship 

Minimum qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, social sciences, or a related field

• At least two (2) years of relevant professional experience 

• Excellent writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills 

• Demonstrated passion for environmental conservation, education, and community engagement
