Wynona Tahira Ewatel Appointed as PICRC’s IT Specialist
The Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Wynona Tahira Ewatel as its new Information Technology (IT) Specialist. In this role, Wynona is responsible for maintaining essential IT operations and providing technical support to both the Center’s staff and visiting guests.
Holding an associate’s degree in information technology, Wynona brings a strong foundation of knowledge and technical skills to the position. Her familiarity with PICRC’s operations is further reinforced by her previous roles at the Center, having served as an Office Assistant in 2022 and a Research Assistant in 2024.
Wynona’s goals in her new position include strengthening planning and budgeting processes for data management, developing data sharing policies, and establishing clear IT policies and procedures for the Center.
“I’m excited to step into this new role and embrace the never-ending learning process it offers. It’s a valuable opportunity to grow and expand my skills and knowledge. I like to think of information technology as a puzzle, challenging, dynamic, and always waiting to be solved,” said Wynona.
Since stepping into her role, Wynona has already led several important projects, including overseeing the installation of a new Wi-Fi system and helping implement IT regulations across the Center. Her deep understanding of PICRC’s technological infrastructure has made an immediate impact.
Wynona was also recently selected for the ICT Training program at JICA Kansai Center in Japan and will soon undertake a one-month training course to further enhance her expertise.
“PICRC is excited to have Wynona take on this position. Without strong IT operations, much of our work would not be possible, and it’s already clear how much Wynona’s expertise has contributed to the smooth running of the center,” said Lkong Koshiba, PICRC’s Administration Director.
